KABUL: The National Resistance Front (NRF), led by Ahmad Massoud, has claimed responsibility for shooting down a helicopter reportedly being used by the Afghan Taliban.
The incident occurred during what the group described as a “targeted and strategic operation.”
The resistance movement stated that its fighters engaged a helicopter allegedly operating under Taliban control and successfully brought it down while it was airborne. The exact location and timing of the incident have not yet been independently verified.
The Taliban authorities have not immediately issued an official statement confirming or denying the claim. Details regarding casualties, the type of aircraft involved, and the operational circumstances remain unclear at this stage. Independent sources have also not yet confirmed the development.

The National Resistance Front, which has positioned itself as an opposition movement to the Taliban administration, has remained active in certain parts of the country since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Led by Ahmad Massoud, son of the late Afghan commander Ahmad Shah Massoud, the group has periodically announced operations targeting Taliban forces and assets.
