ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister of Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti said on Wednesday that misleading narratives about Balochistan have been spread for the past 40 years.
Addressing a judicial conference organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association, he said that terrorists belong to no tribe, and they have no links with Balochistan. It is a historic fact that Balochistan joined Pakistan voluntarily, he said while referring to the propaganda of the Indian proxies.
He said that Afghanistan continues to shelter the Baloch separatist terrorists. He stressed that Balochistan’s accession to Pakistan is a historic reality and not open to question.
He added that presenting the real situation of Balochistan before the Bar Association was a matter of pride for him.
Rejecting armed struggle, he said that Balochistan can only secure its rights through political struggle in parliament, not through violent politics.
While recalling the history of terrorism in the province, he stated that militants established camps in 2021 to mislead the youth. He said the 2008 general elections were the most peaceful in Balochistan’s history, while the province remained largely peaceful until 2016. However, many individuals released in 2018 rejoined terrorism, reviving violence in the region.

Bugti also termed the 2016 terrorist attack on lawyers in Quetta as the gravest tragedy in Balochistan, noting that it inflicted a lasting loss on the province.
