CHITRAL: The 206 MI Chitral facilitated a flag meeting between Afghan and Chitral Scouts to address the handover of Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) militants’ bodies and the establishment of a local-level ceasefire.
During the meeting, the conditions set by the Chitral Scouts were formally accepted by the Afghan advisors. These conditions included the handover of the deceased TTA personnel, retention of all ammunition and weapons by Pakistani security forces, and the observance of a local ceasefire. It was also agreed that local residents would not return to the designated areas and that Pakistani forces would be notified in advance if war orders were issued by relevant authorities.
Following the agreement, the bodies of five TTA personnel were handed over to the Afghan advisors. In addition, several weapons and ammunition were secured by Pakistani forces, including LMGs, SMGs, an RPG-07, magazines, ammo pouches, a modified G3 rifle, and a first aid kit.
Representing the 141 Wing, Pakistani advisors included Qari Ahmad Faqir, Mehrab Gul, Abdul Kabir, Fazl Akbar, and Maulana Wali Muhammad, all residents of Arandu Khas. Afghan forces were represented by Haji Mo’tabar, Haji Usman, Habib Rasool, Jandola Khan, Jumma Rahman from Dukalam, and Maulana Ali Rahman and Haji Gulab from Birkot.
The meeting marked a coordinated effort to maintain calm and manage security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, setting clear rules for engagement and ensuring a structured approach to local conflict resolution.
