QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting on the repatriation of Afghan refugees and the security situation in Qila Abdullah, officials said.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqat briefed the meeting on progress in repatriation and law and order, noting full implementation of the federal policy in coordination with UNHCR.
Bugti directed authorities to ensure special care for women, children, and the elderly during repatriation and warned of zero tolerance for humiliation or misconduct, with immediate action against violators. He ordered full cooperation and assistance to refugees, temporary recruitment of female security staff to facilitate women, and strict action against criminals in Qila Abdullah.
The chief minister instructed that operations must continue without regard to Police or Levies jurisdiction and stressed that protecting human dignity is the government’s top responsibility. He also directed officials to submit daily reports on peace restoration to his secretariat.
Bugti said the provincial government would deploy all available resources to restore peace in Qila Abdullah.

Participants included Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, ACS (Home) Hamza Shafqat, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Inspector General of Police Muhammad Tahir, DG Levies Abdul Ghaffar Magsi, Commissioner Quetta Shah Zeb Kakar, as well as senior police and administration officials from Qila Abdullah and Chaman via video link.
