PARIS: Afghan expatriates in France held a condolence ceremony for a man identified as Saddam, who was a member of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and killed during a security operation in Pakistan earlier this month.
As per the credible intelligence information, Saddam, son of Abdul Baqi and a resident of Police District 3 in Kunduz, Afghanistan, was killed on October 19 in an operation conducted by security forces in the Bajaur, near the Afghan border.
In this regard, despite his alleged links to the TTP, condolence gatherings for Saddam were organized both in his hometown of Kunduz and among Afghan expatriates in France.
The ceremony in France took place on October 26 at the Attaqwa Mosque, located on Boulevard du Portugal in Rennes City, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

In this sense, in Afghanistan, a similar condolence ceremony was held at the Jamia Masjid Khama Karee in Kunduz, a city that has witnessed repeated violence and insurgent activity over the past two decades.
However, the skirmishes is still going on at the Pak-Afghan border during the second round of Istanbul talks regarding the soft war between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, French authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the Rennes event, but experts suggest that law enforcement agencies may review the circumstances surrounding the ceremony to ensure compliance with French laws against the promotion or support of terrorism.
The incident underlines the complex intersections of migration, identity, and extremism, as well as the enduring impact of Afghanistan’s long conflict on communities both at home and abroad.
