Achakzai offers PM to form a national government

QUETTA: Mehmood Khan Achakzai has formally offered Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the proposal to form a national government, stating clearly that no dialogue with the current setup is possible without the establishment of such a government.

He emphasized that those who believe in the Constitution must set aside personal interests and think seriously about the future of the country.

Achakzai strongly condemned widespread corruption, pointing out that in some countries, corruption is punished by death.

While he clarified that he does not advocate for capital punishment in Pakistan, he insisted that some strict accountability must be enforced.

Regarding the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Achakzai criticized the government’s treatment, calling it unjust.

He argued that even convicted criminals are allowed to meet their families, yet the PTI founder is kept in solitary confinement, with his family and party MNAs often left waiting outside Adiala Jail.

He acknowledged political differences with PTI but stated the party has been subjected to extreme unfairness.

He urged for a national movement to be launched where institutions operate independently and free from influence.

He criticized the Supreme Court for allegedly aiding in distributing parliamentary seats and rebuked the Election Commission for acting with bias, including the removal of PTI’s electoral symbol.

He condemned the arrests of elected representatives from within Parliament and declared that the current government was imposed through coercion.

Achakzai also raised alarm over the alleged surveillance by intelligence agencies, noting that the Speaker of the National Assembly claims they have the authority to tap anyone’s calls.

He lamented that corruption is rampant across institutions and the Constitution is being openly violated.

He expressed disappointment that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, though a friend, tends to get upset with harsh truths.

Concluding, Achakzai stressed that remaining silent in the current situation is a criminal negligence, and that the Constitution mandates punishment for anyone who tampers with its sanctity.
