Accidents in mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are a serious concern due to steep terrain, narrow roads, landslides, and harsh weather conditions.

Frequent causes include over-speeding, brake failure, poor road infrastructure, fog, and rainfall-triggered landslides.

Tourist traffic, especially in northern valleys, further increases the risk during peak seasons.

Every year, many lives are lost as buses, jeeps, and cars fall into deep ravines or get trapped under landslides.

The situation highlights the urgent need for better road safety measures, strict vehicle fitness checks, driver training, and improved emergency response systems in these remote mountainous regions.

To reduce accidents in the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, strict enforcement of traffic laws is essential.

Speed limits must be controlled, driver licensing should be based on proper training for hill driving, and regular vehicle fitness checks especially for brakes and tires must be made mandatory.

Roads should be improved with protective barriers, warning signboards, and proper lighting in dangerous zones.

Along with this, a strong emergency response system is needed, including rescue teams, ambulances, and helplines in remote areas.

Weather alerts, landslide monitoring systems, and public awareness campaigns for tourists can also play a major role in preventing tragedies.

Community involvement and government coordination together can significantly reduce these deadly accidents.
