Abhishek Sharma hospitalized due to stomach infection

NEW DELHI: According to Indian media reports, Abhishek Sharma, opener for the Indian cricket team, has been admitted to hospital due to a stomach infection.

His participation in the T20 World Cup match against Namibia has become doubtful because of the illness.

The Indian batter’s condition had already deteriorated before the match against the USA, and it worsened further after playing that game.

Media reports state that Abhishek Sharma was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to a stomach infection. He was immediately put on drips because of high fever.

Various tests are being conducted on the Indian batter in the hospital to accurately determine the nature of the infection.

Abhishek Sharma also did not attend the practice session at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The report further mentions that it is still unclear whether he will be discharged from the hospital today, making his availability for the match against Namibia doubtful.

In view of the current situation, Washington Sundar has been added to the Indian squad as a replacement for Abhishek Sharma.
