ISTANBUL: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan Addresses OIC Transport Ministers’ Conference

In his address at the OIC Conference of Ministers Responsible for Transport in Istanbul, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan praised Türkiye’s exemplary development and the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He emphasized that land connectivity is no longer merely an option but an inevitable necessity, stating that economic and digital connectivity serves as the fundamental driver of prosperity and stability.

Minister Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted that Pakistan is naturally positioned as a “gateway” for regional trade at the crossroads of South and Central Asia. He pointed out significant investment opportunities for OIC member countries under CPEC Phase 2, and noted that connecting Central Asia to Pakistani seaports would substantially increase trade and transit volumes.

In particular, Gwadar Port offers the shortest sea route to warm waters for landlocked Central Asian states.

The minister described the four-country cooperation involving Pakistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan as highly significant.

He affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to provide OIC member countries with trade facilitation through Gwadar Port.

Abdul Aleem Khan also shed light on international transit standards and digital trade platforms, revealing that TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers) operations in Pakistan have seen a remarkable increase over the past year.

The Turkish Minister of Transport warmly welcomed the participation of Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan in the conference.
