Abducted judge Muhammad Jan Baloch returns home safely

QUETTA: Judge Muhammad Jan Baloch, who was abducted earlier this week in Kharan during court proceedings, has safely returned home, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

According to police, armed assailants stormed the court complex in the Maskan Kalat area on Monday, setting the premises ablaze and looting vehicles and official documents. During the attack, the gunmen abducted the senior judicial officer while he was presiding over a session.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Haye Amir Baloch said that the attackers torched parts of the lower court before fleeing the scene with the judge. The officer added that the perpetrators released Judge Baloch unharmed, and he has now reached home safely.

No group has claimed responsibility for the assault so far. However, security officials suspect that Indian-backed proxy networks, including elements of the so-called Fitna al Hindustan, may have been involved in the incident.
