A rising voice from Azad Kashmir: What students pledged ahead of Feb 5 may surprise many

MUZAFARABAD: The Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 draws closer, and a powerful wave of emotion and resolve is emerging from Azad Jammu and Kashmir—led by its youth.

The students from across the region have begun voicing a strong message of unity and shared responsibility with the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, indicating that this year’s observance carries a deeper meaning than before.

In this sense, students expressed solidarity with Kashmiris living under occupation, describing their struggle as a collective cause that transcends geographical boundaries.

The young voices focused on the fact that the quest for freedom and dignity in occupied Kashmir is not an isolated movement, but one that demands moral and humanitarian support from all segments of society, especially the youth.

The students strongly condemned what they described as ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir. They mentioned concerns over civilian hardships, restrictions on basic freedoms, and the prolonged impact of conflict on everyday life.

In this regard, the students stated that they feel a deep emotional bond with their “brothers and sisters” across the Line of Control.

They paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs of Kashmir, acknowledging that their struggle has shaped the present and continues to define the future aspirations of the Kashmiri people. According to the students, remembering these sacrifices on Kashmir Solidarity Day is not merely symbolic, but a confirmation of commitment.

The youth also directed a renewed appeal to the international community, urging global institutions and human rights organizations to play a more effective role in supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as recognized by international resolutions. They stressed that global attention and meaningful engagement remain critical at this stage.

However, these statements may only be part of a larger narrative unfolding in Azad Kashmir. Sources suggest that students are preparing further initiatives and coordinated activities in the coming days that could significantly shape this year’s Kashmir Solidarity Day.
