ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday announced that Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq will be observed every year on May 10. The day will mark the victory of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos against Indian aggression.
He said the nation will observe the day with fervour and national solidarity.
“Our brave forces showed their professional excellence,” the prime minister said. “They defended the nation with honour and pride.”
He also declared Friday, May 16, 2025, as a tribute day. The country will honour the armed forces’ success and offer special prayers in gratitude. Prayers will also be held for national progress and unity.
The prime minister announced major decisions to support people and properties affected by the Indian attacks. He introduced a Shuhada package for those martyred during Marka-e-Haq.
The government will give Rs10 million to families of civilian martyrs. The injured will receive Rs1 million to Rs2 million, depending on the severity.
Martyrs from the armed forces will receive between Rs10 million and Rs18 million, based on their rank. Their families will also get Rs19 million to Rs42 million to help with housing.
The government will continue paying the full salary and allowances of each martyr until their retirement date. The children of martyrs will get free education until graduation.
Each daughter of a martyr will receive Rs1 million as a marriage grant.
Injured members of the armed forces will receive Rs2 million to Rs5 million, based on their injuries.
The federal government will rebuild homes and mosques destroyed during the attacks.
“The government will take care of the martyrs’ children,” the prime minister said. “We will fulfil this duty.”
He said the government will also cover all medical expenses for the injured.

“Those who defended Pakistan’s dignity will be honoured at the national level,” he said. “We will reward them with national awards.”
