QUETTA: Baloch police officer, Amjad Ababki, was martyred in broad daylight today in Quetta’s Sariab Road area near Jungle Bagh, after being targeted by the proscribed terrorist organization Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
This proscribed organization, declared as a terrorist outfit by the government, the United Nations, and other international bodies, the BLA continues to wage a violent campaign across Balochistan, one marked by targeted killings, destruction of government property, attacks on security forces, kidnappings, and psychological warfare aimed at radicalizing young minds.

In this sense, Amjad’s assassination is not an isolated case. There are numerous sources reveal that the BLA has intensified its attacks this year, with hundreds of Baloch civilians, police officers, educational scholars, and state officials falling victim to their brutal tactics.

Furthermore, Mr Amjad, an honest police officer, belonged to the local Baloch community and was a well-respected figure. “This is not a freedom movement; this is genocide in plain sight,” remarked a local activist.
After this incident, security forces have cordoned off the area following today’s attack, and investigations are underway. However, concerns continue to grow over the safety of Baloch professionals and public servants who are increasingly being singled out for assassination.
In such a scenario, the violence escalates, human rights analysts and national security officials are calling for urgent action not only to dismantle the BLA’s operational networks but also to safeguard the future of the Baloch people, primarily those struggling to contribute positively to their community through education and public service.
