RIYADH: The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement was discussed during a high-level meeting of the Chiefs of Defence Forces and Chiefs of General Staff of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in Riyadh on Friday, September 25, 2026. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military leadership reviewed Saudi Arabia’s security situation and discussed measures to further strengthen defence cooperation among the three countries.
Makkah Joint Defence Agreement Focuses on Collective Defence and Security
According to ISPR, the participants strongly condemned attacks targeting Makkah, civilian populations and economic installations in Saudi Arabia. The military officials expressed concern over the security threats facing the Kingdom and appreciated efforts to protect the Saudi people and vital infrastructure.
The participants also praised the professionalism, preparedness and vigilance of the Saudi Armed Forces in carrying out their security responsibilities.
During the meeting, the military leadership discussed several areas of defence cooperation between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. The participants emphasized the need to strengthen existing coordination mechanisms and improve communication between the armed forces.
Makkah Joint Defence Agreement to Strengthen Military Coordination
The meeting also examined ways to enhance intelligence sharing, military coordination and interoperability among the three countries. According to ISPR, stronger cooperation in these areas would help improve collective preparedness and enable the three countries to respond more effectively to potential security challenges.
The military leaders also discussed strengthening practical-level cooperation between their respective armed forces. Enhanced intelligence sharing, closer military coordination and improved integration of defence capabilities were identified as important areas for further cooperation.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to collective defence and expressed their resolve to support Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to ISPR, the Riyadh meeting reflected the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between the peoples and armed forces of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
The meeting was described as an important step toward translating the commitments under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement into practical defence cooperation and strengthening coordinated security efforts among the three countries.
