ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a fresh downward revision in fuel rates, providing brief financial relief to citizens as petrol price in Pakistan has witnessed a modest decrease.
According to official sources, the government has slashed the price of petrol by 84 paisas and high-speed diesel by 2.63 rupees.
Following these adjustments, the new rate for petrol stands at 389.28 rupees, while diesel is now priced at 412.12 rupees per litre.
The Petroleum Division has officially issued a notification regarding these revisions, pointing out that the market has experienced a stabilizing downward trend in fuel rates over the preceding two days.
Since March 2026, the trajectory of the petrol price in Pakistan has been marked by intense volatility, sharp spikes, and unprecedented shifts driven heavily by compounding geopolitical tensions and unstable international crude oil dynamics.

Although recent minor cuts offer temporary breathing room to daily commuters, transporters, and industrial sectors, the broader six-month trend highlights how deeply vulnerable domestic energy expenses remain to external macroeconomic shocks.
Economists note that sustaining long-term relief for consumers will ultimately depend on easing global supply pressures and stabilizing local currency performance to tame transport and inflationary burdens nationwide.
