BANNU: Pakistani security forces killed a wanted militant commander and surrendered five other militants during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, security sources said.
Acting on intelligence reports, security forces conducted the operation in the Mohmand Khel area of Bannu and raided a suspected militant hideout.
During the operation, one militant was killed while five others were surrendered to the security force, the sources said.
The killed militant was identified as Fatehullah Mohmand Khel, a commander affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij, according to the sources.

Earlier today, security forces killed two militants and wounded four others in a separate intelligence-based operation in Lower Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The operation, conducted under Operation 11 Garaj, targeted suspected hideouts of militants affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij in a mountainous area of the district, security sources said.
According to the sources, intelligence had indicated the presence of militants in the area. Security personnel subsequently deployed aerial surveillance to track their movements and identify their positions.
Footage released by the security forces shows surveillance of the mountainous terrain and movement near the suspected hideouts. It also shows the identified positions being targeted by quadcopter drones.
Security forces then carried out precision strikes against two suspected militant hideouts, the sources said.
The strikes killed two militants and wounded four others, according to the sources.
A clearance operation was subsequently launched in the area to search the surrounding terrain and determine whether additional militants remained in the vicinity.
The latest operations come amid intensified counter-terrorism efforts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following a series of militant attacks in the province.
Security forces have continued intelligence-based operations in different parts of the province to disrupt militant networks and prevent further attacks.
