MASTUNG: Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have repaired and restored a bridge on the N-40 highway near Panjpai, beyond Mastung, after Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants damaged the structure, officials said.
The Indian sponsored BLA is continously targering public infrastructure and development projects in Balochistan, damaging roads and attacking a mineral exploration project in what security officials described as an attempt to disrupt trade, create public hardship and undermine economic activity.
The FC launched repair work soon after receiving information about the damaged bridge. Using heavy machinery, available equipment and its manpower, personnel repaired the affected section and restored traffic on the key highway.
The timely restoration helped prevent a prolonged disruption for passengers and freight vehicles using the N-40.
During the repair operation, FC personnel worked with machinery and other available resources to complete the restoration as quickly as possible. Images released after the operation showed personnel working at the site and machinery being used to repair the damaged portion of the bridge.
FC Restores Traffic on N-40 After Bridge Damage
Local residents welcomed the swift restoration and thanked the FC for completing the repair work.
“We were very worried after the bridge was damaged. Thankfully, the FC repaired it quickly, and we are grateful for its efforts,” local residents said.
They added that the immediate repair helped ease difficulties for people travelling along the route and prevented a prolonged suspension of traffic.
The N-40 is one of Balochistan’s key highways and connects several areas while serving passenger and commercial traffic.
Officials said the alleged BLA attack on the bridge was aimed at disrupting transportation and creating difficulties for the public. However, the rapid response by the FC restored the vital route and minimized the impact on commuters and freight movement.
