QUETTA: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has stated that the delivery of justice must be improved through the promotion of technology, emphasizing that the judicial system should revolve around citizens rather than the court itself.
He made these remarks while addressing an event in Quetta. On this occasion, Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Justice Kamran Khan Malakhail remarked that the Balochistan High Court has accomplished a great deal under extremely difficult and unfavorable circumstances, noting that the process of delivering justice to remote areas continues despite prevailing security challenges.
Ensuring transparent judicial reforms and accessible justice remains vital for public trust, as underscored by the Chief Justice.
Justice Kamran Khan Malakhail stated that the judicial system must be accessible and comprehensible to ordinary citizens, pointing out the historical lack of dedicated facilities for litigants, particularly women.
Speaking at a landmark ceremony in Quetta, he highlighted the inauguration of a modern facilitation center completed within six months.
This facility features information desks, biometric systems, modern washrooms, air-conditioned waiting areas, and kiosk machines to provide seamless case-tracking and judicial reforms for underprivileged citizens.
He further emphasized that robust security protocols both inside and outside the courtroom are mandatory to maintain a protected environment.
Moving beyond infrastructural updates, meaningful judicial reforms are urgently required across Balochistan to address systemic bottlenecks in the lower judiciary.
Modernizing case management systems, expanding digital integration, and improving investigative capabilities are critical steps to eliminate chronic case backlogs.
Furthermore, enhancing continuous professional development programs for administrative staff and establishing robust alternative dispute resolution mechanisms will significantly reduce the burden on formal courts.
