QUETTA: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped, tortured and killed in Ahmedwal area of Nushki district in Balochistan, sparking grief and outrage in the area.
Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau took serious notice of the incident and sought reports from the relevant authorities. Meanwhile, police arrested one suspect in connection with the case.
According to details, the incident took place in Ahmedwal, where the alleged rape, torture and killing of the minor girl left the local community in mourning. The family has registered a case and demanded the immediate arrest of all suspects and justice for the victim.
Police sources said the suspects allegedly buried the girl’s body after the assault and killing. However, after authorities were informed about the incident, they exhumed the body for legal proceedings and shifted it to Civil Hospital Quetta for a post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, Home Minister Langau sought reports from Nushki Superintendent of Police (SP) and the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rakhshan Division.
According to Balochistan Home Department Adviser Babar Yousafzai, the home minister also ordered the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in the incident. He directed law enforcement agencies to apprehend the suspects as soon as possible and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, Nushki SP Saleem Shahwani said police had arrested one suspect allegedly involved in the rape of the girl. Police teams are conducting raids at various locations to arrest the other suspects.
Police said further investigation into the incident was underway and authorities were examining all aspects of the case. They added that the post-mortem report was expected to provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
