Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the Sitara-e-Khidmat and a cash reward of Rs1 crore for nurse Razia Noreen, who risked her life to rescue a child during the fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The prime minister praised Noreen for demonstrating exceptional courage, professional responsibility and commitment to duty during the emergency. Her actions during the fire have drawn attention to the dedication of healthcare workers who continue to serve patients even in dangerous circumstances.
According to the announcement, Noreen entered a dangerous situation during the PIMS fire and successfully brought a child to safety despite the risks involved.
Prime Minister Shehbaz described her decision as an extraordinary display of courage and humanity. He said that by putting her own safety at risk to protect the child, the nurse had demonstrated the highest standards of professional duty and compassion.
The prime minister said the nation was proud of Noreen for prioritising the child’s life during a potentially dangerous situation.
