ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has returned a contempt of court petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the transfer of party founder Imran Khan to a private hospital, raising an objection that the list of individuals allegedly responsible for contempt was not provided.
The petition was filed by Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, seeking contempt proceedings over the former prime minister’s failure to be transferred to a private hospital despite clear directions from the Supreme Court.
According to the reports, the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office returned the petition with an objection that the names of the persons allegedly involved in the contempt had not been included in the petition.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan confirmed the development, saying the registrar’s office had objected to the failure to provide a list of those accused of contempt of court.
“We have requested that the petition be fixed for an early hearing, but the petition was returned to us. We will resubmit the contempt petition today,” Barrister Gohar said.
He added that the petition had not yet been scheduled for hearing.
Yesterday, Barrister Gohar met with the Supreme Court Registrar and requested an early hearing of the plea.
Speaking to the media after meeting the Supreme Court registrar, Barrister Gohar said the registrar had assured him that the case would be fixed for hearing later on Tuesday.
The PTI has sought judicial intervention over the transfer of Imran Khan to a private hospital, alleging that the decision was made in violation of court directions.
