KARACHI: The nationwide peaceful strike by goods transporters has entered its eighth day, with a breakthrough appearing on the horizon as negotiations with government representatives are set to take place today at Governor House Karachi, according to Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shahzad Awan.
Awan announced that important negotiations will be held with federal and provincial government representatives, including Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, Sindh Governor, Sindh Transport Minister, and other officials. He expressed hope that the talks would lead to a resolution of the transporters’ long-standing grievances.
The Alliance President made it clear that the nationwide strike will continue until the transporters’ demands are formally approved. He appealed to transporters across the country to remain peaceful and maintain the protest’s non-violent character, expressing optimism about receiving “good news very soon.”
However, Awan issued a firm warning that transporters will not be satisfied with mere assurances from the federal and provincial governments. He insisted on practical approval of their demands, stating that the protest and strike will persist until their demands are fully accepted.
