WASHINGTON: U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has conducted its seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military targets, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing campaign to degrade Tehran’s military capabilities.
In a statement released early Saturday, CENTCOM confirmed that the latest phase of operations was executed at the direct order of the Commander-in-Chief. The strikes are described as a continuation of efforts to “further weaken Iranian military capabilities,” though officials have not specified the exact locations or targets hit in the most recent wave.
This sustained bombing campaign coincides with a stringent naval blockade of Iranian ports that is now in its third day. The U.S. military reports that the blockade has had immediate effects on commercial shipping in the region. According to CENTCOM, four commercial vessels have been diverted away from Iranian ports, while one ship has been disabled, though details regarding the condition of the vessel and its crew remain unclear.
The simultaneous air and naval pressure represents one of the most aggressive U.S. military postures against Iran in recent years. There has been no immediate comment from Iranian officials regarding the latest strikes or the ongoing disruption to their maritime traffic.
