Six Family Members, Including Four Children, Killed in Peshawar House Fire

PESHAWAR: Six members of the same family, including four children, died after a fire engulfed a house in the Tehkal area of Peshawar, rescue officials said on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122, firefighters recovered all six bodies from a room inside the house. The victims included a husband, wife and their four children.

Rescue officials said the victims apparently died from suffocation caused by thick smoke and intense heat. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials said the blaze started in the house’s main hall, where furniture and mattresses quickly caught fire. The flames spread rapidly, filling the entire house with dense smoke.

The deceased were identified as Siraj, 55; his wife, 40; and their children Hanaya, 9; Hareera, 11; Minhal, 3; and Hasnain, 4.

The tragedy cast a pall of grief over the neighborhood as a large number of residents gathered at the scene.

Police and other relevant authorities collected evidence from the site and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Officials said all possible angles are being examined.
