ISLAMABAD: The Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Aoun Chaudhry has strongly criticized recent statements made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, calling on him to publicly apologize to the families of Pakistan’s martyrs and the entire nation.
In this regard, Aoun Chaudhry said that martyrdom is not determined by a salary but is earned through patriotism, faith, and the spirit of sacrifice. He emphasized that soldiers of the Pakistan Armed Forces willingly lay down their lives in defense of the country and that their sacrifices continue to be a source of pride for the nation.
The minister described Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s comments as deeply hurtful to the families of martyrs and said such statements had caused emotional distress to those who have lost their loved ones in the service of Pakistan.
Aoun Chaudhry stressed that the courage and dedication of Pakistan’s armed forces have played a vital role in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and ensuring national security.
He added that the respect Pakistan enjoys at the international level is closely linked to the sacrifices made by its soldiers and martyrs.
He further stated that the nation has always honored its martyrs with the highest respect and gratitude, recognizing their role in preserving peace, stability, and the country’s territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, Aoun Chaudhry urged political and religious leaders to exercise caution while commenting on matters related to national institutions and the sacrifices of security personnel.
He said public figures have a responsibility to promote unity and avoid remarks that could hurt the sentiments of the families of those who have laid down their lives for the country.
The minister reasserted his demand that Maulana Fazlur Rehman issue an apology to the families of the martyrs as well as the nation, saying such a gesture would help address the concerns raised by his remarks.
