ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday to discuss regional developments and efforts to promote peace, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said, amid heightened tensions following US airstrikes on Iran.
US Central Command said it had struck missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar positions on Friday in response for a drone attack on a cargo ship on Thursday.
According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting lasting peace and stability in the region. He said Islamabad remains ready to play a constructive role in advancing peace efforts.
Araghchi thanked Pakistan for its continued support for regional peace initiatives, the statement said.

He also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s assistance in facilitating the safe repatriation of Iranian personnel and fishermen.

The two foreign ministers also agreed to remain in close contact on regional developments and other matters of mutual interest.
