LAHORE: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed optimism that the long-standing tensions between the United States and Iran may soon move toward a peaceful resolution, suggesting that a breakthrough could be announced within days.
In this regard, Naqvi said there are strong indications that progress has been made on a possible US–Iran agreement. He stated that “good news” regarding the deal is expected within one to two days, adding that the conflict between the two countries is likely to settle soon and lead toward peace.
He further revealed that Pakistan’s leadership is expected to play a representative role in the evolving diplomatic process. According to him, both the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal will represent Pakistan in related engagements, mentioning Islamabad’s active involvement in regional peace efforts.
Naqvi also emphasized that Pakistan’s economic management has helped stabilize petroleum prices. He noted that without careful planning, fuel prices could have increased sharply, potentially reaching as high as 250 rupees per litre in a single surge.
He credited proactive measures for maintaining stability and shielding the public from sudden inflation shocks.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has echoed similar optimism regarding the situation. He stated that the United States and Iran are “very close” to finalizing a peace agreement, with expectations that it could be formally concluded within the next 24 hours.
The Prime Minister added that Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the agreement and described upcoming technical-level talks scheduled for next week. ‘
He expressed gratitude toward both Washington and Tehran for their constructive engagement and commitment during negotiations.
Shehbaz Sharif further stated that sustained dialogue and mutual cooperation could lay the foundation for lasting peace, stability, and regional development. He described the expected agreement as a potentially historic milestone that could reshape diplomatic relations in the region.
