Iran, US continue indirect negotiations through Pakistan to finalize agreement: Iranian Envoy

NEW YORK: Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has said that Iran and the United States are continuing indirect negotiations through Pakistan as both sides work toward finalizing a potential agreement.

According to Iran’s state news agency, Ambassador Iravani made the remarks on Monday following a United Nations Security Council meeting on Afghanistan. Speaking to reporters, he stated that discussions between Tehran and Washington remain ongoing, with both countries exchanging views and proposals through Pakistan.

The Iranian envoy said the process of exchanging ideas and opinions is continuing as part of efforts to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. He noted that Pakistan is serving as a channel for communication between the two sides, helping facilitate the exchange of perspectives and recommendations regarding the proposed deal.

“Both sides are presenting their views and exchanging opinions through Pakistan in an effort to reach a final draft,” Iravani said. He added that although progress has been made, Iran and the United States have not yet reached a final version of the agreement.

The ambassador emphasized that negotiations remain active and that both parties are continuing to engage in discussions aimed at narrowing differences and advancing the drafting process.

However, he did not provide further details regarding the contents of the proposed agreement or a specific timeline for its completion.

For now, officials indicate that discussions are continuing, with both Iran and the United States working toward a consensus on the final draft.
