ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Tuesday sentenced the main accused in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf to death.
Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka announced the verdict and handed the death sentence to the convict, Umar Hayat.
Earlier, the court had reserved the verdict after concluding hearings in the case and said it would announce the decision at 3 p.m.
During the proceedings, prosecutors requested the court to award the death penalty to the accused.
The trial took place at the Islamabad District and Sessions Court, where the prosecution completed its final arguments before the judgment.
More than 25 prosecution witnesses testified during the trial, including the investigating officer, the vehicle owner and the driver, according to reports.
Separately, actress Ayesha Omar rejected a controversial statement attributed to her, calling it false and fabricated.
