Trump Sends Witkoff, Kushner to Pakistan for Iran Talks

US Envoys Witkoff & Kushner Still in Islamabad

WASHINGTON :  US President Donald Trump has decided to dispatch a high-level delegation to Pakistan for talks with Iran, according to American broadcaster CNN, citing senior US officials.

The delegation will include Steve Witkoff, a Trump envoy and real estate investor, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and former senior White House advisor. Their mission is to engage Iranian representatives on Pakistani soil as part of renewed diplomatic efforts following heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran.

US officials confirmed to CNN that the trip is moving forward, though the exact timing remains unclear. Foreign media reports further indicated that if the initial talks show progress, Vice President JD Vance may also travel to Pakistan to join the negotiations.

The move comes as both countries prepare for a second round of talks after a period of strained relations. Diplomatic sources noted that the success of any dialogue will ultimately depend on the consent and willingness of both parties to engage constructively.

Neither the White House nor Iranian officials have issued an official statement on the reported delegation. Pakistan has not yet commented on its role as a potential host for the discussions.
