Election Commission takes major step against political party

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has officially delisted the Pak Sarzameen Party, terminating its legal status as a registered political entity. The formal notification has been issued by the Commission confirming the decision.

The Pak Sarzameen Party was founded on March 23, 2016, in Karachi by Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaim Khani. The party emerged with the aim of establishing a new political platform and sought to create space for itself within Pakistan’s evolving political landscape.

In this regard, it participated in national discourse and attempted to gain electoral support, particularly in urban Sindh.

However, the party’s independent political journey came to an end when it formally merged with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan on January 12, 2023. The party effectively ceased to exist as a separate political force, though its formal status remained on record until now.

The Election Commission has completed all legal formalities required to remove the party from its official list of registered political parties. The move reflects the Commission’s effort to maintain an updated and accurate registry of active political entities in the country.

The delisting indicates the final administrative step in the dissolution of the Pak Sarzameen Party’s independent identity. The Election Commission has reasserted its commitment to ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance in the political system.

The Pak Sarzameen Party no longer holds any legal or organizational standing as a separate entity, bringing a formal close to its chapter in Pakistan’s political history.
