SHREVEPORT: A man shot and killed eight children in the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, before being fatally shot by police in an exchange of fire, according to news agency reports.
Police officials said the attacker targeted three different houses in the same area. All eight victims were children, with ages ranging between one and 14 years old.
After the shooting, the suspect attempted to flee but was killed during a confrontation with responding officers, authorities said.
Initial investigations suggest the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. Police added that most of the victims were related to the attacker’s own family.
The motive remains under investigation, and security has been tightened in the area as authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
