ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs has suspended six officers of various ranks, including a BS-20 official, after uncovering further evidence of involvement, negligence, and inefficiency in the high-profile silver swap case, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced on Monday.
In a continuation of its press release dated April 13, 2026, the FBR stated that fresh investigations have revealed deeper complicity in the scandal. Consequently, suspension orders have been issued for one officer each from BS-20, BS-18, and BS-17, along with three officers from BS-16.
A criminal investigation is now formally underway. According to the FBR, those directly involved in the irregularities will be charged under FIR No. 01, registered on April 13, 2026. The board has further vowed that all identified beneficiaries of the illegal silver swap will be brought to justice.
To ensure an independent and impartial probe, three new officers have been posted to the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement in Quetta. The new team is expected to take over the investigation without any conflict of interest.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the FBR stated that strict disciplinary action will follow, regardless of the rank or position of those found guilty. Further developments in the case are expected as the criminal investigation progresses
