The report published by Asia Times suggests that improving relations between Pakistan and the United States are making it increasingly difficult for Washington to rely on India as a key regional partner.
The report mentions Pakistan’s growing diplomatic significance, particularly during recent tensions between the United States and Iran.
In this regard, Pakistan played a crucial mediatory role during heightened tensions between the US and Iran, facilitating dialogue and encouraging de-escalation. Pakistan positioned itself as a bridge between the two sides, contributing to efforts aimed at reducing conflict in the region.
India’s diplomatic response during this period was described as largely passive and limited. The publication further notes that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused his discussions with the US President Donald Trump primarily on oil trade and supply chain matters.
Meanwhile, Pakistan remained actively involved in broader peace efforts, including ceasefire initiatives and regional stability.
Pakistan maintained continuous diplomatic contact with both sides. The country’s political and military leadership engaged with senior officials in Washington and Tehran, playing a key role in keeping communication channels open and promoting negotiations.
Pakistan’s efforts have received international recognition. In this sense, leaders including Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability.
Trump also praised the leadership of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their contributions to diplomatic efforts.
India’s foreign policy has come under scrutiny domestically. The opposition leaders and sections of the media in India have criticized Prime Minister Modi, describing his approach as ineffective in addressing current geopolitical challenges.
