ISLAMABAD: The International Islamic University Islamabad has postponed its midterm examinations that were scheduled to take place on April 20 and 21.
The major educational institutions in the twin cities have announced the suspension of on-campus activities, shifting academic operations online and postponing scheduled examinations.
The university administration confirmed that all academic activities from April 20 to April 24 will be conducted through online platforms to ensure the safety of students and staff while maintaining academic continuity.
The decision comes amid heightened security considerations, prompting swift administrative action. In this sense, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University in Rawalpindi has been closed until April 26.
The formal notification issued by the university administration cited security reasons for the temporary closure of the main campus. During this period, all teaching activities will continue online.
The notification further stated that students residing in university hostels have been instructed to vacate the premises immediately as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, authorities have also announced that private educational institutions will remain closed for three days a week, although details regarding the implementation schedule may vary.
Meanwhile, the education experts note that while the shift to online learning may pose challenges for some students, particularly in terms of access and connectivity, it indicates a growing reliance on digital solutions in times of uncertainty.
The officials have reasserted that these decisions are precautionary and will be reviewed based on the evolving security situation.
