TEHRAN: Saudi Arabia and Iran discussed the outcome of Pakistan-mediated US-Iran talks held in Islamabad, as regional diplomatic engagement continued following the high-level negotiations, official sources said on Monday.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Both sides reviewed recent developments after the Islamabad talks and exchanged views on regional stability, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Earlier, Prince Faisal also held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Dar briefed him on the outcomes of the US-Iran discussions hosted in Islamabad.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting dialogue and diplomacy between Washington and Tehran. He stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and continuing diplomatic engagement despite the absence of a breakthrough.

“We hope both sides continue with a positive spirit to achieve durable peace and prosperity for the region and beyond,” Dar said.

He added that adherence to ceasefire commitments remained essential for regional stability.

Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to facilitate diplomatic engagement between the United States and Iran in the future.

He thanked both sides for responding to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s call for a ceasefire and for participating in talks in Islamabad.
