Iran wants a deal, talks ongoing, says Trump

Trump says Iran war ‘pretty much’ over, progressing ahead of schedule

WASHINGTON :  US President Donald Trump has stated that Iran wants a nuclear deal and that negotiations between the two countries are ongoing, while praising the performance of the American military.

Addressing a ceremony, Trump said that Iran had “ended nuclear blackmail,” adding that if Tehran possessed a nuclear bomb, it would have already used it in the Middle East. “We are ending the threat of the Iranian regime,” he declared.

The US President also asserted that had he not been in office, “America would have ended today.” He took credit for removing “criminals and murderers” from the United States, contrasting his administration’s tough immigration stance with what he described as past policies that allowed “the worst people in the world” to enter the country.

On regional security, Trump demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that the United States had taken major steps to protect its allies. He claimed that if Iran had not terminated the previous nuclear agreement, it would have already developed a nuclear bomb. He further alleged that Iran had been “harassing everyone in the Middle East for 47 years.”
