Body found hanging in Lahore Police Post

Lahore: A case of murder has been registered against seven police officials after the body of a man named Iftikhar was found hanging from a ceiling fan at the Kahna police post (Industrial Area) in Lahore.

According to the heirs, the deceased  who was in police custody  was repeatedly tortured in front of his son.

They alleged that the police officials also demanded a bribe of Rs200,000.

The family claimed that the officers left the police post after hanging the body from the fan and went outside until the ransom money was arranged.

A murder (FIR) has been registered against one named police official and seven unidentified officers.

Investigations are underway to determine whether Iftikhar committed suicide under pressure or was tortured to death and then hanged.

Iftikhar, a resident of Sadhoki village, was a father of four children and worked as an accountant in a private university.

He was arrested by police on March 26 on charges of kidnapping a girl from a private housing society.

Senior police officials have stated that strict action will be taken against those found responsible after the investigation.
