ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet President Asif Ali Zardari this evening.
The meeting is expected to discuss the possible imposition of a nationwide smart lockdown.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister, and Petroleum Minister are also likely to attend the meeting. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also participate.
According to sources, the meeting will focus on the rising tensions in the region.
The President will be briefed on the proposed smart lockdown in the country.
Discussions will also be held on Pakistan’s offer to mediate in the US-Iran conflict.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has taken significant austerity measures.
The provincial cabinet has decided that ministers will not draw salaries for the next three months.
Offices in Sindh will observe “Work from Home” on Fridays.
Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon stated that the provincial government will fully support any decision taken by the federal government to conserve fuel.
He added that measures will continue until the situation is completely under control.
If the federal government decides to impose a lockdown, Sindh will also implement it.
