CTD Arrests 5 BRG terrorists involved in Railway Track Blasts

KARACHI:  In a major joint operation, Karachi’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), along with civilian and federal intelligence agencies, foiled a planned explosion on the railway track and arrested five terrorists linked to the banned Baloch Republican Guard (BRG).

The arrested suspects Commander Jhanor, Ali Jan, Noor Muhammad, Jamak, and Niaz—were found in possession of explosives, IEDs, weapons, and ammunition.

Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar praised the successful operation and commended DIG CTD, federal agencies, and the teams involved, stating that terrorists are enemies of humanity and operations against them deserve appreciation.

According to officials, the arrested terrorists confessed during interrogation to carrying out multiple attacks on railway tracks, including incidents in Jacobabad on June 18, 2025; July 28, October 7 (Jaffar Express), December 16, 2025; and January 26, 2026, in various areas of Shikarpur district.

Investigations revealed that the terrorists received training in Lehri, Balochistan, where they were taught how to handle weapons and plant IEDs. Explosive materials were also supplied from the same location.

CTD sources said the terrorists used family members to transport explosives in order to evade law enforcement detection, while their network was identified through advanced technical intelligence.

Authorities have formed additional teams in collaboration with federal agencies to apprehend facilitators, associates, and handlers.

Interrogation of the arrested suspects is ongoing, with expectations of further significant revelations.
