Over 532 Including Foreigners Cross into Pakistan from Iran as War Intensifies

QUETTA: At least 532 people, including 326 Pakistani citizens, entered Pakistan from Iran through the border crossings of Taftan and Gabd-Rimdan as tensions escalate in the Middle East.

Authorities said Pakistani nationals continue returning through the two crossings in Balochistan due to the deteriorating security situation in Iran.

Naqeebullah Kakar, deputy commissioner of Gwadar, said 106 Pakistani citizens, including 15 students, arrived in Gwadar on Tuesday from Chabahar via the Gabd Rimdan crossing. Five Iranian nationals also entered Pakistan through the same route.

Meanwhile, 421 people crossed into Pakistan through Taftan on Tuesday. The group included 220 Pakistanis, among them 166 students.

A federal official said the Taftan arrivals also included 190 Iranian truck drivers and 13 other Iranian nationals. The drivers typically transport cargo from Iran to the border before returning.

Officials said more than 3,200 Pakistani citizens have returned from Iran over the past ten days, many of them students.
