FLORIDA: The United States President Donald Trump has said that his decision regarding American strikes against Iran was influenced by consultations with his close advisers, describing the situation at the time as rapidly approaching a “point of no return.”
Trump explained that the security situation concerning Iran had escalated quickly, prompting urgent discussions within his administration. The president said that after consulting with key officials, he became convinced that Tehran was preparing for a possible attack on American interests.
Trump stated that discussions with negotiator Steve Witkoff, adviser Jared Kushner, and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth played an important role in shaping his decision.
He said intelligence assessments presented during those consultations suggested that Iran could launch an attack within a week if the United States did not act first.
The US president claimed that American military strikes destroyed 51 Iranian naval vessels. He also said that facilities involved in drone production were targeted during the operation, which he claimed led to an 83 percent reduction in Iranian drone attacks.
Trump further said the United States possesses low-cost defensive interceptors capable of effectively countering drone threats posed by Iran.
He focused on that Washington remains prepared to respond to any further escalation in the region.
Trump said the United States would deliver a strong military response if Iran attempted to disrupt global oil supplies or block the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route for international energy shipments.
The US president suggested that the ongoing conflict with Iran could end sooner than expected, but cautioned Tehran against further escalation. He also mentioned reports of an alleged attack on a girls’ school in Iran, stating that investigations into the incident were ongoing.
