China calls for immediate halt to US–Israel Strikes on Iran

BEIJING: China has strongly opposed the recent United States and Israel military strikes on Iran and has called for an immediate halt to the attacks, urging all sides to avoid further escalation in the region.

In this regard, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that the conflict should never have occurred and warned that the use of force cannot resolve complex international disputes.

Wang Yi focused on that war is not a solution and urged the international community to pursue diplomatic dialogue instead.

“The war should not have happened in the first place. The use of force will not solve the problem,” the Chinese foreign minister said, mentioning Beijing’s concern over the growing instability in the Middle East.

In this sense, Wang Yi also criticized what he described as attempts to pursue regime change in Iran, saying that such plans have failed to gain support and do not contribute to peace in the region.

He stressed that respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity is essential for maintaining stability.

Meanwhile, the Iranian leadership has sought to reassure neighboring countries about its intentions. Iran’s president stated that Tehran has no plans to target neighboring states and expressed regret over the tensions created by the situation.

He focused on that Iran does not seek conflict with regional countries and called for calm and cooperation.

Moreover, China further underlined the importance of protecting the security and sovereignty of both Iran and the Gulf states. Wang Yi urged major global powers to play a constructive role in preventing the conflict from expanding into a wider regional war.

“We must prevent the war from spreading and work together to maintain peace and stability,” he added, calling for dialogue, restraint, and responsible international engagement.

China’s statement follows similar criticism from Russia, which had earlier condemned the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and demanded that the attacks be stopped immediately.

Moscow also warned that continued military actions could further destabilize the region.
