Security on high alert in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: The security agencies have placed the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on high alert following intelligence reports of a potential terrorist threat over the next 48 hours.

In this regard, the law enforcement agencies have intensified monitoring and security arrangements across key locations after reports indicated the possibility of militant activity.

The sources added that increased pressure by the Afghan Taliban government on terrorist groups and sleeper cells operating in the region could trigger retaliatory attacks.

In this regard, in Islamabad, several locations have been identified as sensitive areas. These include Faisal Mosque, Centaurus Mall, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, the H-8 Sunday Bazaar, and mosques in the G-6 market area.

Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, several busy commercial centers have been declared sensitive. These include Saddar, Raja Bazaar, Sadiqabad Bazaar (Trolley Adda), Dubai Plaza, and Moti Bazaar.
