ISLAMABAD: The tenure of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed has been extended by three years.
The extension was approved by the federal government under the National Accountability Ordinance 1999. A notification was issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
According to the notification, the extension will take effect from March 6, 2026.
The extension will remain subject to the existing terms and conditions of the office.
The development came a day after the Senate and the National Assembly passed amendments to the NAB law. Under the previous law, the three-year tenure of the NAB chairman could not be extended.

Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed was first appointed as chairman of the anti-corruption watchdog on March 4, 2023.
