HYDERABAD: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have arrested a trained terrorist affiliated with the proscribed outfits Fitna-ul-Hindustan and the Sindh Revolution Army (SRA) during an intelligence-based operation in the Qasimabad area on Friday night.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched following a tip-off regarding the presence of suspects in the locality. “The suspect was taken into custody during a search operation in Qasimabad. The area was cordoned off to search for any possible accomplices,” the spokesperson said.
Officials recovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives from the arrested individual. The seized items included two hand grenades, modern weapons, and a large quantity of technical equipment. The bomb disposal squad was summoned to the scene to safely defuse the recovered explosives.
CTD sources confirmed that the suspect is a trained operative and that his initial interrogation has yielded valuable information. “The investigation is ongoing, and more important revelations are expected from him,” a senior official stated.
The arrested terrorist has been taken to an undisclosed location for further interrogation as authorities work to dismantle any sleeper cells linked to the individual.
