Kabul: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has removed Rashid Khan from the captaincy of the Afghan national team.
According to sources within the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Rashid Khan has been relieved of his captaincy duties, and Ibrahim Zadran has been appointed as the new captain of the Afghanistan team.
Under Rashid Khan’s leadership, the Afghan team’s performance has remained extremely poor for a considerable period.
The team was eliminated in the first round of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Similarly, in the Asia Cup, Afghanistan failed to qualify for the Super Four stage.
Prior to this, the team also suffered defeats in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, as well as in bilateral T20I series played against Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
