QUETTA: The repatriation of Pakistani citizens from Iran continued on Wednesday, with a fresh batch of 556 individuals crossing the border and arriving home in Quetta via the Taftan route.
According to official sources, those returning in the latest group include 506 students and 50 pilgrims. This brings the total number of citizens who have returned home through the Taftan border crossing over the past two days to 940.
Meanwhile, repatriation efforts are also underway through the Gwadar route. Officials confirmed that 136 citizens, including 25 more students, have also returned home via Gwadar, taking the total number of returnees through that border terminal to 456.
Speaking on their arrival, the students revealed that the decision to return was driven by a growing sense of insecurity following recent events in the region. “There is an atmosphere of fear after the attack on Iran,” one student said. They added that their safe return was made possible with the assistance of the Pakistani embassy in Iran.
The coordinated repatriation effort highlights the government’s focus on ensuring the safety of its citizens amid rising tensions in the neighboring country.
