Sahibzada Farhan Climbs to Second in T20I Batter Rankings

LAHORE: Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has surged to second place in the ICC Men’s T20I batter rankings after a stellar World Cup showing.

Farhan scored a historic pair of centuries at the tournament, including a commanding 100 against Sri Lanka national cricket team in Pallekele. His 383 runs helped him leap past England’s Phil Salt and reach a new career-high rating.

India’s Abhishek Sharma remains No.1, holding a 26-point lead, but Farhan is closing in fast.

Other significant batter movements include India’s Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma climbing to fourth and sixth, while South Africa’s Dewald Brevis rose to eighth. Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett jumped six places to 11th after scoring 292 runs. South Africans Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram moved to 13th and 16th spots, respectively.

In the bowler rankings, Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed rose two places to third, closing the gap on India’s Varun Chakravarthy, who retains the top spot with 12 wickets but a reduced 18-point lead.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh also moved up to seventh and 13th, while England’s Liam Dawson and South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi rose to 14th and 20th.

In all-rounder rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza continues to lead. India’s Hardik Pandya climbed to second, overtaking Pakistan’s Saim Ayub. West Indies veteran Jason Holder jumped eight places to 11th after standout all-round World Cup performances.

The rankings shakeup highlights the rising impact of Pakistan players in both batting and bowling as the T20 World Cup progresses.
