ISLAMABAD: Pakistani forces killed at least 67 Afghan Taliban fighters after they attacked multiple positions in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa overnight, officials said.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar took to X to share updates of last night gun battle saying the Afghan Taliban launched physical assaults on 16 locations in Northern Balochistan, including Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, and Chaman districts. They also conducted fire raids on 25 positions.
Pakistani forces repelled all attacks, killing 27 Taliban fighters and wounding scores more, he said in his post.
One soldier from FC Balochistan North was killed defending his post, while five others were injured.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Taliban attempted a physical attack at one location and carried out fire raids on 12 sites. All were repulsed without any Pakistani casualties.
Officials said 40 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed during the overnight operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Follow-up operations are ongoing. Pakistani authorities said a detailed update would be provided in the afternoon.
